Orange Chocolate Chip Muffins

These easy orange chocolate chip muffins feature the classic combo of orange and rich dark chocolate. Made with tangy Greek yogurt and olive oil, they are wholesome, moist, and tender.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest from 2-3 oranges
  • 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt or regular plain yogurt
  • 1/3 cup orange juice from 1-2 oranges
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375F. Grease a standard 12-cup muffin tin.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the sugar and orange zest, until well combined. Set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the yogurt, orange zest and sugar mixture, eggs, egg yolk, orange juice, vanilla, and olive oil.
  • Add the flour mixture to the yogurt mixture and stir until just combined.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the muffin cups. Sprinkle the tops with a few more chocolate chips if desired, and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Storage Instructions
You can store these orange chocolate chip muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Just make sure they’re fully cooled before storing to avoid moisture build-up!
Rather than refrigerating these muffins, I recommend freezing them as they freeze really well. You can place them in a freezer-safe bag and store for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature or heat briefly in the oven for freshness.
