Orange Cupcakes

Ingredient Notes

cake flour kosher salt baking powder unsalted butter canola or vegetable oil granulates sugar orange zest vanilla extract egg + egg yolk whole milk orange juice cream cheese icing sugar

In a medium bowl, mix together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt.

In another bowl, cream together the butter, oil, and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add in the whole egg, egg yolk, vanilla extract, and orange zest to the bowl and mix well until everything is combined.

Now make the last component of the cupcake batter - mix together the orange juice and whole milk.

Gradually mix the flour and milk/orange juice into the butter mixture on low speed, alternating in three parts.

Evenly distribute the batter into a lined cupcake tin and bake till lightly golden. You will get 12 muffins from this batter.

While the cupcakes cool down, make the cream cheese frosting. Mix the butter and cream cheese in a bowl.

Now add in the vanilla, orange zest, and powdered sugar and mix till you get a smooth frosting.

Spread the orange cream cheese frosting on the cooled cupcakes and you're done!

Sprinkle some orange zest on top and enjoy!
